For those who have been watching the news, the Conficker worm has been making headlines for both the binary protection mechanisms, as well as its large spread and number of bots. This worm exploits a bug in Windows 2000 through Server 2008. It is able to overflow a processing buffer and cause code to be run to actually infect the machine. This bug has already been patched by Microsoft in the MS08-067 patch in October of 2008. Due to the large number of machines on the Internet that are running pirated versions of Windows, and generally don’t allow the machine to use Microsoft Update, the worm is still able to find targets to exploit. Note: This will not work for everybody. You should never use a backup system if you have no idea how it works. This is a way to backup that would work for me. It may not be the way that works for you.

As we near the holidays, for many people, the question of how to deal with the mountain of data that modern video and still cameras produce. If that footage is edited if can be reduced in size, but that does not always happen. If the items that a backup is desired for is edit and trimmed down to be good quality and non redundant, the job of storage becomes a lot easier.

Background:
Google Android runs a custom Linux environment with most apps running in user space. Like the iPhone, Google Android allows developers to write third-party applications. All third party code is locked in a Java sandbox and is not allowed to touch part of the file system. The only Google Android phone currently on the market is the G1.
